I joined the team at Advanced International Aviation Academy in February 2018 as the Chief Pilot and immediately decided this is a great place to be ad instructor. When I first met Augustine and the AIA team, I love the team environment and respected Augustine as a person and leader right away. I thought the school was top notched and a good fit for my aviation passion. It was also quite a nice to have excellent condition airplanes and to supplement that , a maintenance facility within the company as well.
This passion flying started when I was three years old. My father took me to work with him for “take your son or daughter to work day”. He was a maintenance chief in the Air Force at the time. Our mission for that day was to taxi a Lockheed T-33 Jet trainer from one side of the airport to the other and park it. I crawled into the back seat of the cockpit and the ground crews strapped in with my helmet on. With my Dad in the front seat he started the engine. I then observed all the interesting instruments and listened to all the radio communications. I immediately fell in love. This day totally changed my world and view of aviation.
I finally started to pursue my passion of aviation during my first year of college. I was quite busy then working full time, going to college part time and flight training part time. When I finally received my Private Pilot License I then decided ……why stop now!!! I continued my busy pace of working full time, college and flight training. This passion led me to pursue my instrument and commercial license, multi engine add on, CFI GoldSeal, CFII, MEI and ATP ratings. I’ve never regretted a minute and the same passion that I felt in the back of that T-33 Jet training is the same passion I still feel today. It never grows old.

Mason fell in love with airplanes at a very young age, having been exposed to aviation through his family friends who had started taking him on joy flights in their Piper J3 Cub. As a lifelong aspiring aviator, Mason first started taking flying lessons at 16 years old and became a licensed Private Pilot shortly after.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Science, graduating at the top of his class from Central Washington University. In addition to earning his Commercial Pilot’s License, Instrument Rating, Multi-Engine Rating, and Certified Flight Instructor Rating, Mason served as a Pilot Mentor for numerous underclassmen. Mason graduated from CWU with high honors and a 4.0 GPA at the young age of 20, making him a true standout among his peers.
There are many aspects of professional flight instructing that Mason enjoys, but what really excites him is the opportunity to fly with so many wonderful people. Every student has different learning styles, motivations, and personalities, posing a constant challenge to figure out how to instruct each student in a way that is meaningful and personalized. Mason’s natural gift for teaching transfers well into his career as a flight instructor, and he feels honored to help his students achieve their aviation aspirations.
In his spare time, you can find Mason hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range or snow skiing on the winter slopes. An avid outdoorsman, Mason even qualified to represent Team USA in the Olympic Hopes Canoe and Kayak Regatta in Poznan, Poland. The wonder that is known as flying is a perfect fit for Mason, as there is nowhere he would rather spend his day than soaring in the blue skies.
